Hello, World!
“Hello, world!” was an example of a test program, in the 1978 book, C Programming Language. This simple start would be the first introduction many computer programmers and bloggers would encounter on their path towards a world dominated by our countless devices. Built by pioneers of the electronic and computer industry these humble beginnings would flourish into all we know our world now to be. We a debt of gratitude to those who began in face of all obstacles. Out of the need to intercept and break Nazi codes during WWII, scientists such as Alan Turing developed early technologies that would lead to computers such as as an electromechanical machine that could find settings for the Enigma Machine. The computer industry started with ENIAC in 1946 and Bell Laboratories invention of the transistor in 1947
“Hello, world!”, is a small part of many contributions that allowed for the remote work and digital nomad movement. It would take until the 2000s with wifi, mobile devices, and many forward looking Gen Xers to start a forging pathway for Millennials of the future. I was born, in 1980 straddling the boundary line between Generation X and Millennial. I was and am an active participant in the development of this movement pushing the boundaries of explorations of business and self awareness along the way. I have evolved from an endlessly curious boy of the 1980s and early 1990s, growing up in a small town, America, with a deep desire to travel to explore the world. My own professional traveling experiences started as a wine buyer, digital creative, creative director and then as a global entrepreneur, startup founder, and as a strategy consultant.
May, 31 2020. We are in middle of a Global Pandemic of Sar-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome) an coronavirus that causes Covid-19 disease. For a variety of reasons, riots and protests have been occurring globally. In Hong Kong over the Chinese Communist Party‘s exertion of National Security Law bypassing Hong Kong’s legislative council and supposedly autonomous government. In the United States, protests have spread from Minneapolis to other metropolitan area across the country after a shocking video of an unarmed black man, 46, named George Floyd died while being restrained aggressively with a knee on his neck. Meanwhile, SpaceX was able to successfully dock a commercial spacecraft with the international space station and thus start the age of commercial space travel of the future. Despite years of setbacks due to catastrophes such as the Challenger explosion on January 28, 1986 to the high costs and expenditures making taxpayers question the imperative of the space program. I watched the Challenger explosion live on an Advent 1000 Videobeam projection television system as the whole world gasped and collectively mourned the astronauts, including a woman teacher named Christa McAullife. One is reminded every venture of exploration and discovery contains risks but they are inherent from the moment of our conception until we die. The space in between is the chance we have to excel.
I never lost sight of my goal to see and explore the world even though I had often lacked the resources, knowledge, and experience. In the process, I made many mistakes and wasted more money and time than I can count. I have gained and lost many friends, family members, and loves in the process. This is life and we all only have so many moments. Our most precious resource is time and the freedom to spend that time as we choose is our most basic right. Others often try to take these away from us and sometimes we yield them willingly for our survival or to chase the material possessions we believe we need and our conditioned to want.
Occupation Anywhere is as much of a philosophy as it is a website create to teach people to take back their freedom through financial independence in peace and harmony with the world, nature, and our fellow human beings. We should have the choice of how we live while not infringing on others security. Limiting the ability to move freely and respond to threats against our very nature. Humanity has spread throughout the earth and into space because by nature we are explorers in search of fulfillment. First we need to fulfill our basic needs and then we can explore the deepest depths and furthest expanses even if they reside close in only our hearts and minds. In this we may be able to meet God or Universal Truths. We need not dictate to others what they shall find but we may help them on their path. Our physical travel is just one small aspect of possible in expanding this consciousness. We have the opportunity to approach everything as a child would see the world – with open eyes and excitement. We have the power to shape and determine our reality but there are practical measures we need to take to satisfy our needs and live as God or nature intended – Free!
Our Journey Together, Thus Begins…
Hello, World!
